Start your day by joining us for a Pancake Breakfast sponsored by Bill’s Superette and staffed by Nowthen Laestadian Church members then venture out into the park where you will find many activities throughout the day. Enjoy live music, Alpacas and Goats, Inflatables, Law Enforcement demonstrations, a Fire Department Open House, Food Vendors, Martial Arts, Kids Games, handmade arts and crafts and a Farmers Market to name a few.

The Festival is a wonderful way to showcase our city's history, talents and residents. Many of our vendors are from Nowthen so it's a great way to shop local too. Thank you to the Nowthen Businesses, churches and civic organizations who have contributed to make this day a very special event for Nowthen and the surrounding communities.

A favorite part of the festival is the Pine River State Bank Scarecrow Contest. Entries are displayed along “Scarecrow Lane” and throughout the day Festival guests cast votes for their favorite Scarecrow. Judging categories are 12 and under, 13 -19 years old and 20 years old and above. Prize money of $75.00, $50.00 and $25.00 will be awarded in each category.

Growing in popularity is the Giant Pumpkin and Vegetable Contest run by Award Winning Grower Chris Brown. Last year’s winning pumpkin weighed in at over 1,000 pounds. Cash prizes, ribbons and trophies for giant pumpkins and a variety of other vegetables will be awarded. The winner will receive over $1000 and cash prizes will be paid to the top 20 heaviest pumpkins!

Finish your day by joining your neighbors for a Pulled Pork Dinner under the big tent.

 

And for the finale sit back and watch a grand fireworks extravaganza. We’ve heard it’s the best around.
